About Me
Dr. Burke founded Positive Outcome Physical Therapy with a goal of providing a higher quality of care and more personalized approach than the traditional clinical setting allows. Dr. Burke received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 1995. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 2013. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Heather possesses a background in treating patients across the continuum of care and has worked with a diverse population. She started her career working with neurological, cardiovascular, orthopedic, and amputee patients at renown rehabilitation hospitals in Boston, including Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Recognized by peers for her expertise, Dr. Burke has presented multiple professional training seminars on the evaluation and treatment of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, cardiac, amputee and orthopedic education, and developed an aquatic therapy program. Heather has extensive training and experience in specialized orthopedic manual therapy, sports medicine, and management of chronic musculoskeletal pain. In 2005, Dr. Burke launched an outpatient physical therapy clinic within a multidisciniplary center on the North Shore. During her over two decades of practice, Heather continuously advances her skills in postgraduate training including numerous skilled manual therapy orthopedic courses on the spine, lower extremity biomechanics, peripheral joint and soft tissue mobilizations, and other diverse musculoskeletal system courses.
Heather’s professional mission is to improve quality of life for her patients by relieving pain, restoring mobility, and maximizing functional potential. She views patient education and partnering with her patients as important elements in the healing process. Recognizing that everyone is unique, Heather tailors treatments for each individual patient.
